Dalkey, Ireland. What a lovely little town right outside of Dublin. The likes of Bono and Neil Jordan live here and the Obama’s recently visited. It’s one of those famous beauts that is worthy of a day trip, if not a long weekend, for the coastal views and good local eats alone.
Within Dalkey is the famous Killiney Hill walk. The views from Killiney Hill are simply stunning and the walk itself is peaceful, offers lots of shade, and is full of stop-offs for picnics, picture-taking and more. But, beware of the naked men at the swimming hole. Apparently, these men have become well-known for swimming and sunning in the buff – no matter what the temperature – brave men indeed ;). We missed them during our visit.
The Killiney Hill walk is my new favorite thing to do. Granted, I’ve only done it once and been in Dublin almost two months, but, I fully intend to do it again and take anyone who visits us in Dublin to partake.
I loved our time in the town of Dalkey as well. Ger and I went for pints (or should I say a couple of bottles of rose) with a fabulous couple, Paul and Aine, at Finnegans (yes, this is the same Finnegans where the Obama’s wined and dined). We sat outside and soaked up the seaside sun before heading to The Club for dinner and drinks. The Club had amazing ambiance: a lavish old pub with fabulous food. All in all, a lovely day out. Can’t wait to go back – grá é!
